The image of Jesus as the good shepherd is, of all the pictures of Jesus, the best loved. It evokes a vision of a caring shepherd who leads his sheep to 'life-giving pastures' where people are able to experience life in all its fullness. However, this vision often stands in contrast to a different reality which leads many to ask "where is this abundant life"?
