God, the Life-Giving Trinity

The words God speaks

are the life and sustenance

of all that exists.

 

The life Jesus gives

is the re-creation and renewed birth

of all that is broken and worn.

 

The Spirit’s stirring in our souls

is the inspiration

for creativity, compassion, joy, and community.

 

Let’s pray -

 

Life-giving, life-restoring, life-fulfilling God;

may our whole lives be worship.

In all things, may we seek to connect with

and to reflect your love and your hope.

 

Living Love,

beginning and end,

 

Jesus, wisdom and word;

crucified and risen:

 

Holy Spirit, storm and breath of love;

bridge-builder, eye-opener,

unseen and unexpected,

untameable energy of life –

 

Holy trinity, three-in-one,

we praise and adore you.

Today we pray for your church throughout the world, for those that are thriving and those who have lost a sense of direction.  We give thanks for the ministry of this church to do your work. We ask you to open wide our hearts that we may welcome the stranger and share our faith with others.

God in three persons, blessed Trinity, we pray for peace in the world, in our communities and our families: create in us a love for peace, not peace that is absent from struggle, nor peace that is blind to injustice but the peace that makes whole what now is broken.

(Short Silence)

We remember this morning those who are sick, sad or lonely and those who are brave and patient when things are going wrong. We pray that they may be aware of your comforting presence and know that in your hands they are safe and loved. We bring before you now, in the silence, concerns for those people and situations that are on our hearts . . .

(Silence)

 

Three is the magic number
calling us out of individualism
insisting on relationship
I to you
we to another
trinity seeding networks
until all the cosmos joins in

one to create
one to save
one to sustain

one to author
one to fight
one to enliven

one to conceive
one to die
one to resurrect

one to plan
one to act
one to explain

one's sufficient
two's company
three's community

trinity expose our self-reliance
trinity break open our exclusivity
trinity seed our joining right now, as we pray our family prayer –

 

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and for ever.
Amen.
